About

Analog Terrors is the end product of an attempt to try and combine a university task with personal interests. Much as the name suggests, the topic of this blog is analog horror, a subgenre likely originating from the late 2000s and 2010s online horror culture. But why specifically analog horror? The answer is simple: I grew up on the aforementioned online culture. This subgenre, currently experiencing a rise in popularity, evokes both fear and a weird sense of nostalgia within me. In other words: I am hooked, even with my slight inability to properly stomach any kind of spooky content.

But who am I? Well, my name is Mimi and I invite you to follow along as I make my way through corrupted tapes, grainy camera footage, and websites hiding dark secrets, all in an attempt to figure out what makes analog horror both so creepy and addictive. And for that, it doesn’t matter whether you are a seasoned horror veteran or as squeamish as myself.
